The mobile home idea would be about the same thing as a cart. Why not just add a covered wagon (attached to a horse) that you can get inside and sleep in? Basically make it like the old out-west settlers rode in. Plus, those carts went up really steep mountains, like the equivalent of a one block slope in Survivalcraft. So the terrain would not have to be super flat for a wagon like that to work. Or any wagon for that matter.

Frostbite, people took wagons up the rocky mountains. As long as the land is flat enough to walk on, it can be done. Granted, they weren't very nice to the horse or ox pulling, but they did it. And Please watch your expletives for any future posts.

Uhm...how about a camouflaged tent?

I know its not related to "transport"... But its just something mobile and perfect for nomads.

Hmmm, a camo tent. Certainly good portable housing, but the coding would be difficult. Also, it would be to large to fit in some places, but certainly useful for long distance.travel over plains.

What would the camoflauge serve as? It wouldn't really make much difference what color the tent is, be it camo, white, or hot pink. As well, tents are big and would be hard to fit into the game. How about a simple one-block transportable "sleeping bag"?
After a long day's walk, you set it down on the ground, and hit " get inside" (which is next to the creep/mount/draw button). Then you go into your settings and tap sleep.

The sleeping bag would be made of canvas, feathers, and string. It would keep you dry, and most animals would not be able to hit you when you are in the bag. It is not burn proof though, and so be careful of lightning. I think the sleeping bag would certainly beat digging a hole to sleep in while travelling. Plus it would only take one block on the ground, unlike a tent.

@fredhats

You might want to build something around you so you don't have a lion in your face when you wake up. Maybe a fireproof covering can be created from a thin sheet of copper and cotton (Or some other non combustible material). You can also try disguising yourself so you don't stick out like a sore thumb.

@My old mobile home post

It can be built out of sheets of metal and have rubber wheels. I don't think horses can pull metal. When the weather is bad out, the wagon will catch on fire while the mobile home will have more resistance to it. Also, wooden wheels would have to be replaced frequently while the rubber wheels won't.
Here's my formula for the axle of the mobile home:
R= Rubber Wheels
MR= Metal rods
X= Nothing

RMRMRR
MRMRMR
RMRMRR

The walls of the mobile home:
M= Metal
L= Lava (For melting the metal into sheets)
G= Glass for windows to the outdoors.
C= Coal
S= Sheet metal
 I= Iron door

In the furnace:
M/L
C
S

In the crafting table:
SSG
SSG
XIX

Combined:
1st part of home:
RMR
SSG
SSG
RMR
2nd part of home:
RMR
SSG
IXX
RMR

With this, You'll only have to replace the wheels and check the walls for dents and water leaks.

Well, sure, a shelter around would definitely be helpful, but I was thinking that the sleeping bag would be like a quick-place bunker. You get inside, sleep, craft, change clothes, do whatever, and wait till the animal leaves. Then you pick up and keep going where you wanted to go. Just a shelter for temporary protection.

it is funny how big your sleeping bag you think it is to craft, change clothes, and do anything. for my understanding, the sleeping bag is just fit to one (normal) to two (big) persons. also, i dont think it will fit in the game "For the current coding" of the night animals. Predator to be exact. Once I tried to lure a zebra in the pit of lions and bear, but they didn't touch it. instead, then try to reach me, and jump to where I am standing. during the day, they seems passive, unless you come near them. well, even the other animals will be attack if they come close to a predator. but during the night, you are the only prey in their eyes. so you cannot sleep in an open area. unless the coding is change, it is impossible.

P.S.
you can be attack even you are in your sleeping bag.

@BlueMoonNinja

I think your plan about luring the zebra has one problem. For the hostile animals to kill each other (or kill a non-hostile animal) is that they would need to bump each other. The difference is that when you (the player) is coming close to them is that their going to attack you. I dont really care about the night problem when every animal is hunting you it really benefits me since i sleep under a trap.

They say people can change, but is that really true? If they decide they want to fly, will they grow wings? I don't think so. You don't change yourself, you change how you do things. You have to make your own way. You have to create a way to fly, even while you stay the same.

Oh and theres another problem about that sleeping bag you guys are talking about. The problem is that even if you place campfires beside you is that some animals would still be able to attack you especially those werewolves they just jump in the campfires then attack you then just run and hunt you again.

I'm not saying the sleeping bag is supposed to be a perfect shelter to withstand everything. All it does is provide temporary protection from animals. I propose that the sleeping bag would be invisible to the predators, and if you wait long enough you can leave safely. The sleeping bag would also provide for easy shelter for cold biomes, where the temperature would stay warm in the bag.

The sleeping bag is NOT supposed to be a PERMANENT SHELTER! Just a quick hide for journeymen.

The sleeping bag wouldn't even be very effective against animals. You would have to fortify it some other way, by walling it off or mounding it up. The virtue would be the ability to sleep warmly under the stars.

Perhaps adding bogies, when rails are added so people could make custom trains, while adding elements like containers, and different types of chairs when 1.30 comes out. And I think the motion block is a really good idea, it could also be used to make airplanes, as well as gliders, again with special containers.

Motion block? You mean you can move a certain block horizontally? Right know i dont really know what to do with a motion block other than placing a large gunpowder keg on top of in then pushing it in to destroy a wall

@FredHats Im not also saying that you're sleeping bag is a fortress that can withstand everthing, the sleeping bag speaks for itself it can be used to sleep in that way you dont need to create a 3x3 house on your first day in the game but you need something to protect it thats where the campfires come in.

Probably with a command bloack, connected to an optional special seat to control how the motion block actually moves around.

I would rather have the motion block be able to be pushed, or if the structure gets too heavy, use a motor or draft animal.
