Playing on PC
I've played SC for qute a few years, so its not like I'm new.  My question is that I am confused about where I can and can't sleep. I was out one night and had to make a quick shelter, so i dug down in the dirt and made a 4x4 hole and slept. However I am building a treehouse and since it doesnt have a roof yet, I built the same structure, a 4x4 dirt hut and I couldnt sleep in it because it kept saying I need a better shelter.
I am now confused. Please enlighten me.
thanks

you need to stand centre of the 4x4 I think, but optimally a 3x3 roof is needed. I suppose the dirt is good cos the dirt blocks diagonals still count and hence your roof is much larger.

I dont understand what  you  mean., It's a 4x4 cube. So it has a roof on it. If it works underground why not above ground?

Its hard to explain, but tbere is a genuine reason why the underground thing works.

Yes, it's usually the corners that make it unsuitable. All corners, even for the roof, should be solid and not just touching at the edges.
