It is much to our regret that we must report again on the travesties of this world. The terror has no bounds! The forestry guild returned to their task of restoring the grand woods and planted many more saplings with high hopes for their success. Perhaps half of the destroyed areas had already grown back. When the workers return a day later to inspect their work, what they saw nearly caused several to commit suicide on the spot. Indeed, some of the newly planted trees had already grown - AND WERE ON FIRE !!! Will the cruelty of this world never end?
Of course, they immediately set to work to extinguish the fire as best they could. Some of the wood was recovered from the burning trees and fortunately the fire was stopped from spreading. One worker nearly died from catching fire, himself.
While they were busy with this travesty, our construction crews were busy improving the infrastructure in our fair village. A new entry has been added to the southwest wall, next to the furniture factory scaffolding. We now have 4 proper entry ports and one more may be coming. This new entry will accomodate those of our people wishing to explore this world via a waterway. It is adjacent to the little bay which connects to the larger body of water to our south. Our scouts have reported that this body is fairly extensive and may even be expanded to connect to additional waterways. It is even possible that a water based route may be made between our land and one of the new neighbors. Should these neighbors prove peaceful, we may petition the Council to build this connecting passage. As well as the waterway, this entry should make it easier for our neighbors to establish a safe route to their own lands.
In addition to the new entry, other roads were upgraded. Also, as the subterranean infrastructure was being constructed, the crews ran across a fault in the earth and called on our miners. They determined that this fault was in fact the start of an extensive cave system, below our very feet! They were ecstatic and began exploring these caves, immediately. A vast lake of magma and several mineral deposits were their rewards.
This month, only two people were lost to the vagaries of this life, both to the savage beasts. We must remember to never stop looking about us. Death will sneak up from behind and take us with nasty sharp pointy teeth.
We must apologize to the people of Draconia for our missed opportunity to supply them with the magma they requested. In their zeal of exploration, the miners consumed all our available time and forced our representative to use excessive haste in returning to the Tavern. In her haste, she forgot to grab the magma bucket sitting next to the door...
Lastly, we strongly petition the Council to rebuild the two paths through old Vraeston which are useful as passage to the Capital. Both the northern road through the mountain tunnel and the central road through the ruins have been obfuscated by the Council's environmental cleanup crews. It was quite a surprise to gallop into the tunnel only to be met with a solid wall of stone at the other end! Although it was a relief to not see that massive strange building we heard was called a "mall", it is still inconvenient to have the accustomed roadways obliterated. Stanimosity will welcome a chance to rebuild these roads as part of our public service duties, during the very next government turn.
