Land of Berclavia News

(Stupid Lefora...can't add pictures now?!)

The Land of Berclavia builders may be slow and inefficient but they are persistent!  https://www.dropbox.com/s/z4yeibejui81lgt/Photo%20May%2030%2C%2020%2039%2055.jpg?dl=0
We cannot describe how relieved we are that all of our lands' riches are in one place and no longer scattered about and unprotected.

We were glad to see that the newcomers may have formed a working partnership as our small population cannot satisfy the call for builders.

Besides finising the storehouse and marshalling all the goods together, we visited the lodge in order to assemble the staff for the Berclavia Outfitters at the Trading Post.  However, we were wrest from that path by our noticing a new section of the lodge...ominously labeled "basement and prison."  We hesitently descended...and descended...and descended.  Each turn around the center found us contemplating with more dread what he might find.  It was worse then we feared...We can speak of it no more.

Land of Berclavia to All

We can't believe that the Celebration is almost upon us.  Having been planned for months and months (which cannot be reviewed due to the unfortunate Library fire) you cannot imagine our excitement to participate and experience the festivities!

I believe that, in addition to an amazing fireworks display, the Central Government plans to bestow a monetary bonus to all active peoples.

Congratulations to all!

special government check out

I'm sorry, I had a 'complicated' night and wasn't watching for the check in. Yes, I'm checking out to complete the preparations for the celebration. I was hoping for more ideas but there'll be a couple surprises (assuming I can still make the time).

My plan is to release a link already set up for everyone to download, to watch the fireworks, nap until morning and check out the other changes that (I hope) will be done. Everyone will have a little surprise in their chest.
Hardgamer, when it's ready you can take it, do the same then go to the tavern and start your turn. You'll get an extra hour so you don't take away from your turn time. (We also need to talk about another subject...)

So...checkout  (special government turn).

Williamsburg to the Central Council

We are excited to announce that most of our buildings were built on our land already, though we do need the furnishings still.

The one building we have a question about is the forts. Do we still have to follow the rules of war on building them?
Or can we build them however we want(seeing we didn't see a section in the city building requirements section)?

Also, the rules of war are a bit confusing. Not that we ever plan on having a war.

1.Who decides where the "safe zone" is?
2.How is war declared? Does there need to be a reason for an attack, like a conflict? or can you straight out invade? This has come to my concern, because we are afraid of an attack.
3.Also, is it 7 turns to delcare a war, or is it become incorporated? How does that work?
4.What is meant by "pausing" the war? Wouldn't someone just pause it to avoid fighting?
5.Can someone just not "show up" to the war to avoid it, like not logging in, or are they forced to fight?
6.The defender loses their land, but the aggressor loses their weapons/forts if one of them lose? Unbalanced here.
7.How does incorporation change how wars are fought?
8.Can groups of states fight other groups of states. Maybe like (the federation vs the rebels)?

Also remember that one rule for incorporation is that you have a defined border. It does NOT have to be a complete wall but does have to be clear enough so any traveller can tell she's crossing into a territory. Although the maximum size is essentially a circle 256 blocks across, your border doesn't have to start that big.

Yes, the rules of war are not clear enough. They've been a source of discussion since the beginning. We may even rewrite them completely. I wish the previous discussions were not deleted - they could help us with ideas already proposed. Until we can establish a fair set of rules, I'd assume war is not allowed. If anyone disagrees, please say so now...
Incorporation only requires one fort. So for now, I would say the one should follow the building requirements already set forth. You don't have to make it the max size, nor square. Once rules are worked out, the requirements for forts may change or even be eliminated.

Under these circumstances, I'd like to say that war should be temporarily banned from this world, perhaps even permanently banned. For fear that a rogue state with power could easily gain control at will, there really should be no reason why war should exist. Historically speaking, war has been one of the root causes for suffering, and speaking of gaining by taking, isn't really necessary in a virtual world where a vast amount of resources and land are readily available.

RE: war

In my opionion, and in seeming agreement with hardgamer and stanimus, the rules of war need to be entirely rewritten.  I stated this opinion as well on the deleted thread but there's been no movement on the discussion (everyone's busy!).  In the past, when BW, we were able to set a time to chat about the rules live on Discord which resulted in much faster movement and clearer discussion on detailed topics as compared to what can be accomplished on a Lefora thread.

@hardgamer (and others): if you are willing / able / interested then make a Discord account and find the channel:  https://discord.gg/vx7ues6

There's also an SC channel: https://discord.gg/pBw2kmu

Looking forward to the link from Stanimus...

@invictus

The celebratory turn hasn't been skipped...it hasn't happened yet due to RL happening to Stanimus.

He has got the checkout now preparing the celebratory turn.

Stanimus was wrong to say that hardgamer is next after the CT...it's still you.
