It would be nice to be able to stay positive about this game.
It would be even better to have a solid REASON to stay positive about it.
I go back and forth - usually triggered by being smacked across the face with a bug or other programming failure. Virtually nothing anyone else has said here is wrong. The game is both great AND a failure. Electrics and Furniture are amazing. They are also both depressing because they can't be fully utilized fully due to the game complexity bug. I can understand and work wih the furniture maximum complexity - look at my packs! But as soon as my builds get truly interesting - WHACK! - another smack across the face! The complexity bug rises.
I originally loved the game for it's 'realistic' survival mechanics, then - WHACK! - animals magically spawn inside my house! (We may be getting a handle on preventing this...stay tuned)
I'm amazed by the potential of the electrics, then - WHACK! - timing problems stop things from working right.
But, the one thing that gives me the most pause is the (relatively) recent development regards to multiplayer. He WAS working on new survival mode mechanics (this is SURVIVALcraft, right?). That was completely dropped and seemingly ignored when he had a brainstorm - split screen! To me, this speaks volumes to his state of mind. It's much like a little child cleaning his favorite bicycle, then suddenly drops everything to go chasing a pretty butterfly...
So sad, too bad for the bike!
